FAQs - Waxing

Q: Does waxing hurt?

Pain level varies for each individual. Your discomfort will decrease after each wax as you stay on a four-to-six-week waxing schedule and exfoliate two to three times per week.

Q: Can someone go in the wax room with me?

In order to provide the best experience possible, only the client and Wax Specialist are allowed in the room. Unless you are under 18 years of age, then you may have your parent or guardian accompany you. All intake forms/ consents for minors must be signed by their parent or guardian.

Q: What about waxing refunds?

Here at The Waxing Wahine, we stand by our work with a 5-day performance policy for all waxing services. If we happen to miss any unwanted hair during your initial visit, we'd be more than happy to provide a complimentary touch-up within 5 days of your original reservation, at no charge.

Q: How long should my hair be to get a wax?

You'll get the best results if you let the hair grow to about ¼ inch so the wax can fully grab the hair. For first timers, it’s best to not shave at least 3 weeks before your first initial reservation.

Q: Can I wax while on my period?

Yes! Keep in mind that the area will be more prone to sensitivity and you may experience more discomfort than usual. You can definitely get a Brazilian wax on your period, just use a tampon or a menstrual cup. You'll also want to make sure you change your tampon or clean out your cup right before your wax to minimize the risk or worry of period leaks during your wax appointment.

Q: Can I drink caffeine before I get waxed?

Not a good idea. Caffeine can actually make the skin more susceptible to pain. Stimulants in the system can cause skin to be extra sensitive to waxing. Give yourself a couple of hours after drinking coffee or alcohol before getting waxed.

Q: What Should I do for aftercare?

Your skin may be sensitive following your wax. Any red bumps or irritation should subside within a few hours. Make sure to avoid sun exposure, tanning, hot baths, hot tubs, heavy lotions and exfoliation for at least 48 hours after your service.
